Admission Requirements

We are committed to your success! At Bridgeway School of Nursing, our knowledgeable, supportive faculty and staff are dedicated to your success from the moment you choose to study with us. Our holistic approach of hands-on, student-centered education is an effective way to build your skills, and our flexible program is designed to fit your schedule for online/hybrid/in-person instruction. Some textbooks are even available for check out from our local resource center.

Admission Requirements & Enrollment Process

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age or have parental approval at the time of completing the application process. All applicants must:

● Submit an application and a nonrefundable admissions fee of $150.00.
● Provide government -issued ID (Proof of Florida Residence and age)
● Provide proof of high school completion or graduation:
o GED or High School Diploma; or
o An associate degree; or
o Successful completion of at least 60 semester or trimester credit hours or 72 quarter credit hours that does not result in the awarding of an associate’s degree, but that is acceptable for full credit toward a bachelor’s degree at another institution; or
o Enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program where at least 60 semester or trimester credit hours have been successfully completed, including credit hours transferred into the bachelor’s degree program.
● Complete an interview with Director of Nursing/Dean/Advisor
● Provide official transcripts for general education (English Composition I and Algebra) and/or prerequisite course completion.

*All above mentioned credits considered for admission must be from an institution that is accredited by an accreditor recognized by the US Department of Education and/or CHEA if awarded by a US Institution. Official transcripts must be provided. All foreign transcripts must be translated and evaluated by a member of NACES or AICE to determine equivalency.

After completing general education and nursing pre-requisite coursework and prior to registration in the nursing
core courses, all students must:

● Complete a placement test “TEAS” or equivalent should score 60% or higher prior or equivalent to admittance (such as the HESI A2 exam at 75% or higher), scores are valid for two years. Applicants with an Associates of Science degree or higher in a health-related field with a 3.0 GPA are exempt from this requirement.
● Current immunizations records, and current TB test.
● Complete the Criminal background check. Prior to the start of the first term of nursing courses, students will be notified of the process required to complete a criminal background check and the deadline for the completion of the check. Applicants with a positive background check may be denied admission into the Nursing Program. The fee is the responsibility of the student. Students will not begin the Nursing program until Bridgeway School of Nursing has the background check on file. Background checks are valid for one year.
● Additional requirements are needed prior to the start of the clinical portion of the program. Please refer to the Clinical section of the catalog for additional information.

Special Admissions Requirements for Licensed Practical Nurses
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPNs) with an active license in direct patient care, are waived from the 5-year pre-requisite credit courses retake guidelines for (Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, Nutrition, and Medical Terminology), even if they were completed more than five years prior to admission.
Students will, however, be required to complete any general education courses not transferred into the school. At the time of admissions, they must provide, in addition to the general admissions requirements:
1. Copy of their LPN license, and
2. A Letter of Employment from their current employer (signed) indication.

Foreign Transcripts

If applicant attended or is a graduate of a foreign institution, all coursework from the foreign institution must be evaluated for U. S. institutional equivalence. The official evaluation must be sent directly from the evaluation service. For evaluations, please contact one of the following:

Transfer Credits

All transcripts must be evaluated before students can be accepted into our program.

All prerequisite courses are eligible to be accepted for transfer credit.

Minimal nursing courses are accepted for transfer credit. Inquire with an admission personnel for details.
